We went on a field trip with BestStart. We took a bus with a bunch of 1-3 year olds and their moms, dads, grandparents. There were some daycare groups there when we arrived. I noticed that large group field trips, end up being kids corralled around to each activity and a big part of the day is spent trying to keep them together.
Our group, of parents and kids, moved from each activity as well, but the kids were getting individual attention. And because each kid (or sibling set) had an adult, we could leave the group when we were done with say pumpkin painting, check out the turkeys, and then return and continue on the tour.
I'm sure every homeschooling parent has their own home schooling pros and cons list when it comes to homeschooling their kids, but I will tell you that two big pros for me are the freedom to concentrate on my daughter during a field trip, and the freedom to not have to herd 25 other children on a field trip. The individual attention my child gets sure does mean a lot, to her, and to me. Thanks for reminding me of yet another reason that I homeschool!
